APPLICATION: This is an ideal initial orientation program for new hospital security officers.

This videotape is designed to highlight key elements of the expectations the hospital should have for its security officers. In the examples given, the reactions of an officer to real situations are presented.

 

On completion of viewing the videotape the officer should be able to:

State at least four distinct areas of job responsibilities for the hospital security officer.

State at least two elements of effective communication to be considered with an upset patient or visitor.

State the ways security can contribute to the overall safety efforts in the hospital.

Discuss how security officers can reduce potential theft of hospital property.

State two reasons why well written officer reports are essential within the hospital environment.
