APPLICATION: It is intended that officers will learn on completion of this training that they can enforce rules, do their jobs and use courtesy at the same time.

On a regular basis the hospital security officer is called upon to carry out duties that require the enforcement of rules and regulations.

At the same time, the officer must also treat the person being confronted with courtesy and respect.

The officer has the extremely difficult role of being a polite but effective authority figure.

This presentation offers Healthcare related examples of how rules can be courteously enforced. The viewer is present while officers try to explain and clarify hospital policy and security's responsibility in regard to that policy.

In the final moments of the video, additional illustrative and practical Healthcare confrontations are presented and the officers viewing the tape have an opportunity to talk about how they would respond to the person shown and the employer's policy at issue.
