APPLICATION: To make sure that officers know the threats that are associated with parking lots and know how to prevent problems.

It is the line security officer who is likely to spend the greatest amount of time in and around the parking lots. If efforts to prevent accidents, thefts, assaults, workplace violence and acts of vandalism are to be at all successful, the active participation of all security personnel will be critical.

This videotape provides the security officer with an overview of the various elements which contribute to parking lot safety and security.

On completion of viewing this videotape the officer should be able to:

 Discuss an analysis of risk in parking lots making specific reference to lighting, location, level of use, etc.

Describe the advantages and disadvantages of Ground level parking and Multi-level parking buildings.

Describe various strategies that officers might employ to enhance the security of parking areas.
