1ST AID FOR FIRST   RESPONDERS

APPLICATION: This tape is intended as the orientation program to be used with every security officer who is required to, or is likely to, provide First Aid to injured employees, visitors or civilians.

While it is absolutely not the intent of the producers to replace live instruction on First Aid, this video is designed to meet the needs of many organizations to be sure that their officers have a rudimentary knowledge of first aid procedures. This program presents and contrasts the roles of the First Responder and one who provides first aid.

In contrast to most videos, this one is designed specifically to be stopped, quizzed upon between segments and handout materials filled in as subsequent sections are presented.

Among the topics covered in detail:

• The "ABCs" of FIRST AID;
• Control of Bleeding;
• Rescuing a choking victim;
• Artificial Respiration;
• CPR
• Treatment of Burns, Shock, and Heat-related trauma.

Using live action, demonstration and on camera personalities, the above topics are covered as well as significant attention is given to the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Act and the responsibilities of security officers for their own personal hygiene and safety.
