CONFRONTATION WITHOUT CONFLICT

Aggression De-escalation Strategies for Use
in the Schools.

ED911              25 Minutes

APPLICATION: This video based program serves as the core element of training provided to staff which will directly address strategies for de-escalating student aggression and preventing acts of violence toward educators.

Any education professional who hopes to manage or de-escalate aggression, must understand how their response to hostility and aggression can feed the development of potential violence. The "Aggression Continuum" must be recognized and understood in order for educators to successfully manage their own behavior and then that of the persons they are attempting to confront.

Experience has sadly demonstrated that educators are NOT taught the basics of Aggression De-escalation before they are sent out to the teaching environment. This lack of basic skills in managing human behavior is a major contributor to staff injury which has followed from hostility escalated into physical attacks.

The training represented by the video is reality and classroom experience based. The ten "De-escalants"© presented in this program were developed after training over 5,000 healthcare, security and education professionals.

Topics covered include:

    • Language
    • Stance
    • Assessment
    • Monitoring
